The process of economic globalization brings more threats to local and international struggles of growing urgency. Victims are no longer just the combatants, but also civilians, women and children.
The President of the International Committee of the Red Cross Jakob Kellenberger thinks in his book about the problems of enforcement of international humanitarian law and points to what would have to change in international politics, so in the crisis areas of the world the right to a dignified life can finally be enforced.
Why the Geneva Convention not only to governments but also increasingly against guerrilla groups and terrorist organizations is so difficult to enforce and why globalized decision-making can be left as a way out of poverty worldwide if not the economy alone.
The president of the ICRC points out the dangers arising from the fact that the struggle for energy resources, against epidemics and the global drug trade the gap between rich and poor will increase dramatically.
Jakob Kellenberger's new book „Humanitäres Völkerrecht“ (trsl.: „international humanitarian law“) sharpens the view on the problems of today and gives an idea of what will tomorrow be on the agenda of business, politics and society.
